America the free (Dosen't apply to sex)
What's the deal with America? We're free to do
almost anything within legal bounds that we want. We can
choose where and what to eat, what to buy, what to wear, who
to associate with... but when it comes to skin, we're
about as free as a pet hamster! Oh sure, we can watch a gang
member shoot up an entire street, or a drug dealer shoot
a rival dead, or even a doctor repair a gunshot wound on a
victim on our favorite tv shows, but when it comes to sex,
it's strictly for the pay channels like HBO, and even
that's somewhat censored. Why is it so taboo over to
even talk about sex, when in Europe it's not a big deal?
Is it because we're a moral society?
Well if so, does that mean that Europe is not moral?
Is it because Europe is more mature than US?
Well if so, then why are sophisticated shows like ER and
CSI so popular? In Japan, they have game shows where girls
guess which penis belongs to their boyfriend, and in Germany,
commercials show topless women. Yet in the good ol'
US of A we can show a guy getting shot full of holes, but as
soon as clothes come off so does the camera. All I ask is:
Why?
